- Sunday Service Update -

January 8, 2022

Dear SCA Family,

Due to the incoming ice storm and its effect on the State College area, the leadership and I feel it is best to not have our regular morning service on Sunday, January 9.  I always miss gathering in person to worship with the SCA family but am grateful for the nightly prayer gatherings we have scheduled for the coming week as part of our week of prayer and fasting.

Even though we won’t be having our regular Sunday morning service, still use this Sunday to set apart of time of worship in your home.  Here are a few ways I would encourage you to consider implementing this for tomorrow morning:

1.     Worship with one of the recent online services from SCA posted on the church YouTube page.  Each service has a powerful time of worship and a timely Spirit inspired message that I believe God will use to minister to you and your family wherever you gather to worship.

2.     Turn on a worship playlist on one of the many music providers (YouTube, Spotify, iTunes, etc.) and gather to worship Jesus.  Following worship, if there are multiple individuals who live in your home, allow each to share where they have been reading as well as what themes God has been challenging them on.  This is a regular practice in our home and is always a powerful and encouraging time!

3.     Find a worship service from any number of excellent ministries available online and join them in what God is doing in their service.  One online service I recommend and regularly worship to is James River Church in Springfield, MO (https://jamesriver.church)

Following your worship at home, I encourage you to conclude in a time of prayer and communion.  Also consider the act of giving in your tithe/offerings as part of your time of worship.  This can be done online or through regular mail.

Whatever form of worship you adopt for Sunday morning, I strongly encourage you to still launch into your time of prayer and fasting with the SCA family.  In addition to this, protect the time on your calendar to join us each night for the different in person prayer gatherings (each at 6 PM at SCA) throughout the week.  The schedule is as follows:

Monday, January 10- Men’s Prayer Gathering

Tuesday, January 11- Women’s Prayer Gathering

Wed, January 12- Students Prayer Gathering (parents and adults welcome)

Thursday, January 13- Prayer from home

            Friday, January 14- Worship Gathering

I look forward to our times together this week, and pray you stay safe, stay warm, and stay filled with His continued presence in your life and in your home.

With Love,

Pastor Steve & Trisa

Volunteer Leader Information

Volunteers make up a huge part of our SCA Kids ministry team. SCA Kids could not function without the many volunteers on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights. Adult leaders and helpers serve in the nursery, preschool classes, and K-5th grade classes. We do our utmost to provide a safe and secure environment for our children to learn about Jesus through a great team of volunteers!

If you are interested in working with our children, the first step to take is to read our Policies and Procedures for Working with Minors, complete the application, and submit it to the church office. If you have questions, you can contact the church office at 238-3800 or info@scassembly.org.

Click here to open a copy of SCA’s Policies and Procedures for Working with Minors manual. After carefully reading the manual, click here to complete and submit a preliminary application to work in our SCA Kids Ministry.

All workers ages 18 and over, volunteer or compensated, must be approved by a staff member and complete a background check before they can work with minor children at State College Assembly of God.

Youth Leaders

Volunteer leaders are an important part of SCA Youth. If you are interested in helping, contact Pastor David or the church office.

All workers, volunteer or compensated, must be approved by a staff member and complete a background check before they can work with minor children at State College Assembly of God.

Home Missions

When a fire tore through a State College apartment building and 19 families were left homeless, the Salvation Army was there to help. When drug addiction threatened to dismantle a young man’s life, Teen Challenge was there to bring hope and a real future.

The Salvation Army of State College and Teen Challenge-Rehrersburg - are just a few of the local ministries supported each month through SCA’s missions giving. We are committed to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ and making a tangible difference in our community.

World Missions

State College Assembly supports over missionaries and missions agencies around the world through Assemblies of God World Missions and other missions giving. Some, like Sam and Naomi Brelo in Belgium and Dr. Mike and Tillie Waldner in India, have met needs and shared the gospel message faithfully, in the same area, for years. Others are off to locations in predominantly Muslim regions in North or East Africa as part of Assemblies of God’s Live Dead Initiative, penetrating areas that have long been considered dangerous to Christian outreach. Today’s missions work around the globe is vital, effective, and productive. SCA is honored to be a part of it.

Resume Writing

Resume Writing serves to help anyone entering the job market or changing jobs to identify skill strengths and experience and to compose a professional resume.

The Importance of a Quality Resume

A resume is the first impression you make to potential employers. It is used to describe your strengths, experiences, qualifications, and why you are interested in the position. Employers will review many resumes to determine which applicants they want to interview. In short, having a good resume will help you land that interview.

In a comfortable and casual setting, we will help you identify your skills, strengths, and experience. Through this process, a professional resume will be created. You will receive printed copies and an electronic version for future use. Please plan for a two- to three-week time frame to complete the process involved in creating your resume.
